Advocacy is the act of speaking or writing in support of
something.
For GLHF, advocacy involves speaking or writing on behalf of persons
with hemophilia and bleeding disorders. The purpose of GLHF advocacy is
to influence policy, procedure, law or administrative rule so that GLHF
clients will benefit and be protected; or, in the case of harm, have the
harm undone. |

What is Insurance Advocacy? |
Insurance Advocacy
involves the impact of
policy, coverage or benefit changes by an insurer that may affect
clients.
-
An example of where
insurance advocacy may be needed: A health insurer or drug plan that
established a restricted formulary or has a specialty
pharmacy with little expertise in the provision of factor products.
-
Specific Examples of Advocacy:
- Inform clients
of their appeal rights
- Obtain support
of NHF and hemophilia providers
- File a complaint
with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance
- Pursue policy
change via Legislative Advocacy
