Sprinkler Sitting Contest at Finnian’s Party with a Purpose Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation Headline News - July 2010
Finnian McCormick just turned 10. He has severe hemophilia and has spent his share of time in the hospital, most recently to have an arteriovenous fistula created in his forearm for infusions. Prior to his hospital stay, he celebrated his birthday in grand fashion on the hottest day in May.
Finnian’s birthday party was not just a celebration of turning 10 – he also raised money to support GLHF programs by having a Party with a Purpose. His mom, Megan, coordinated the party by sending email invitations. She informed parents and kids that Finnian didn’t need gifts – but to please consider making a donation to Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation instead. The email explained that GLHF is an organization that provides important programs and services for local families with bleeding disorders.
On the day of his party, 18 of Finnian’s friends arrived to play in the sprinkler and enjoy the 80 degree summer-like day. They were treated to all the fun you might expect from a boy’s 10th birthday party, including a popsicle eating contest, and a sprinkler sitting contest.
The boys also brought donations for GLHF, and at the end of the day Finnian had raised $145 for Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation. Happy Birthday Finnian! And thank you for holding a Party with a Purpose to benefit the bleeding disorders community!
Please consider following Finnian’s lead. Have some summer fun and support GLHF through your own Party with a Purpose! It doesn’t have to be complicated – email some friends with a nice message, make a summer salad and some cookies, enjoy friend’s company and raise some dollars to support GLHF and the bleeding disorders community.
Let your network of friends and family know that GLHF is important to you and ask them to support this great cause. Visit the GLHF website (www.glhf.org) to get some more ideas about having a third party event or a Party with a Purpose to support Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation.
