Headline News - September 2010

A
s you know, over the past year GLHF reached out to its stakeholders and clients to better understand how our services could benefit the individuals we serve. Based on that information, GLHF staff have developed an exciting array of services for 2011.

GLHF is committed to providing services statewide:

In the upcoming year you can expect to see a continuation of the patient financial assistance program and an expanded educational scholarship program for youth through college aged clients, we will develop a web library which will include a series of podcasts of relevant information and topics related to living with bleeding disorders and government advocacy. The WI Bleeding Disorders Conference will be bigger and better than this year and GLHF will roll out its inaugural Family Camp.

GLHF is committed to long-term positive lifestyle change:

In the upcoming year GLHF will endeavor to heighten the awareness of bleeding disorders by achieving our goal to present at one statewide healthcare association meeting. Over time, continued participation in healthcare provider meetings will educate a broader number of providers and improve your interactions with non-hemotologists.  GLHF will also work with the HTC’s to help develop materials that can be distributed to clients and others to better inform them on the issues related to living with a bleeding disorder.

GLHF is committed to advancing public policy:

GLHF will host a Day at the State Capital in 2011.  The date will be set soon and you will be notified of details as they become more clear.  In 2012 we will once again ask you to meet with your legislators in-district.  GLHF will also keep you informed on the implementation of the Healthcare Reform Act and send updates as details become more clear.

The Board and staff of GLHF are excited to move forward on these initiatives even in light of my decision to resign as executive director.  They are committed to carrying out the plan for 2011 with the knowledge that GLHF has an important role to play as a national leader and a local support system.  It has been my honor to serve as executive director over the past year and a half.  Thank you for your continued support of GLHF…the future is bright and the vision is clear.

Sincerely,

Sandy
