It takes more than corporate and foundation support to maintain GLHF’s important programs and services Won’t you help us HELP YOU by getting involved in at least one fundraising activity this year? It can be as easy as shopping at Pick ‘n Save, or as elaborate as holding a backyard carnival. Pick what works for you from the list below… or come up with your own ideas.

Michelle Cecil is a GLHF volunteer who has raised money for Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation through a bake sale and donation challenge at her high school. So far Michelle and her sisters, Brianna and Kimberly, and mother Elaine Alred, have raised $213 to support GLHF programs. Follow Michelle’s lead and commit to a fundraising event of your own!  Contact the GLHF office for any extra support you need.

"It's simple raising money in the community.  For my fundraisers I first went to my school principal for permission.  We asked members of our church to make baked goods for the Homecoming bake sale, and we put up flyers.  The biggest reward in the end is knowing you raised money for a good cause and that you are helping out other members in the bleeding disorder community that cannot afford medication."   -- Michelle Cecil

Here are some great ways you can help GLHF raise funds:

  •  Write a thank you letter to GLHF donors; share your story with GLHF to raise awareness.

  •  Host a picnic or dinner party and ask friends and family to make a donation to GLHF.

  •  Ask your employer to match your charitable donation to GLHF.

  •  Raise funds by shopping at Pick ‘n Save: at the customer service counter, register GLHF as your designated charity
(# 293550). Every time you use your Advantage Card, GLHF will get a percentage.

  •  Use GoodSearch.com to surf the web…be sure to designate Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation as your chosen charity.

  •  Have a rummage sale, backyard carnival, neighborhood dog walk, cook off, bowling tournament, bike-a-thon, or some other fun gathering to benefit GLHF.

  •  Have a party with friends and Tupperware, Market Day, Mary Kay, etc., and pass the proceeds to GLHF.

  •  Encourage friends and family to make a donation to GLHF directly, or through their United Way workplace campaign.

  •  Volunteer at a special event or on an event planning committee.

  •  Raise money from friends and family to sponsor you as a walker in the annual Walk with the Animals at Milwaukee County Zoo. (Event scheduled for 9/27/08).
