Woman to Woman

An opportunity to educate woman and girls about bleeding disorders

  

The Woman to Woman program is designed to prepare volunteers to:

bullet

Teach women about the signs and symptoms of bleeding disorders 

bullet

Help identify undiagnosed women  

bullet

Connect these women with treatment centers,
chapters and other supportive resources.

      

 As a Woman to Woman volunteer, you will be able to:

bullet

Make the issue of bleeding disorders more realistic and interesting by sharing personal stories,

bullet

Encourage questions from listeners that they may have been unwilling or afraid to share before, and  

bullet

Reach out to groups not accessible to the chapter or treatment center.

Woman-to-Woman Training

 

A Woman-to-Woman training program was held October 21-22, 2006 in Milwaukee. Nine women from throughout the state were trained on the program.

Friday, October 20 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm

 

5:45pm – 6:00pm        Registration

 

6:00pm - 7:00pm         Dinner and Pre-test          

                                                       

7:00pm - 7:45pm         Welcome and introduction of trainers

                                                Housekeeping issues

                                                Confidentiality agreement

                                                Introduction of volunteers

9:00am - 9:30am         Continental breakfast – Wisconsin 5

 

9:30am - 10:30am       Personal narratives by trainee's and feedback

 

10:30am – 12:00am     Techniques for public speaking

                                                Introduction

                                                How to convey the message

                                                Effective presentation skills

                                                Setting personal boundaries

                                    Conducting the presentation

                                                Networking skills

                                                Materials needed

                                                Steps to conducting the presentation

                                                Special considerations

                                    Demo presentation

                       

12:00pm - 1:00pm       Lunch                                                                                     

 

1:00pm – 1:20pm        Breakout in groups of two and prepare a presentation

 

1:20pm - 2:30pm         Present presentations and feedback

 

2:30pm - 3:00pm         Girl Scout information

Brainstorming on where and how to get presentations booked         

                                                Post training assessment

                                                Feedback and evaluation of training

                                                Questions regarding any information presented

                                                Last thoughts and suggestions by trainers

 

 

 

These volunteers will now staff health fairs, conduct the Girl Scout Highway to Health badge program and speak to groups about women and bleeding disorders in their local communities.
